Sherfield Village Fete is one of the largest events of its kind in North Hampshire, attended by over 3000 visitors each year. This year’s fête will take place on the village green on Saturday 9th June, starting at 12:30, when once more we aim to present an afternoon of fun for all the family. This year we will be raising funds for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, as well as for our village hall, parish church, and other local causes.
Our 32-page programme has been printed and distributed to addresses in the village and beyond. If you haven’t received one yet, you can download a PDF copy here. We’ll also have copies to give out at the entrances to the green on the day.
We’re planning around a “Western” theme this year, and we’ll be encouraging our stallholders and visitors alike to join in the frontier spirit. We’ll be giving prizes for the best-dressed youngsters in our free-to-enter wild west costume competition.
One of our main attractions will be the Santa Fe Gunfighters re-enactment team, who you can see in action in their Western Town, re-enacting classic gun fights from the 1860s, just after the Civil War.
Between shows, look around the saloon, undertaker, bank, jail, general store and stage coach. You can even give their rifle range a try, and it all goes towards raising funds for leukaemia research.
As well as arena displays, including Quirks Animal Roadshow, all the usual fête attractions will of course also be there, like our fun dog show, a display of enthusiasts’ vehicles, bouncy castles and other amusements for children, a wide range of stalls, and lots of choices for eating and drinking. Alongside the famous Fete BBQ and Tea Tent this year we’ll have a range of hot food choices, fresh salads, ice cream vans and a vast selection of baked goods from Bramley Village Bakery.
Booking for stalls has now closed.
As usual, we are always looking for additional volunteers to help us plan and stage this popular annual event. If you’re willing and able to join the team, register using our volunteering sign up form.
