The fete is over for this year and the Committee would like to give a big thank you to everyone who helped and to everyone who came along and made the 9th of June such a happy and successful day. The weather surely helped, and we had a bumper turnout, easily over 3,000 visitors. The car park on the green was busier than ever despite being a much larger area than in previous years.
We still do not have definitive final financial results, but we are now able to say that 2018 has been one of our most successful fetes, possibly the most successful ever. Local good causes who have applied to us for grants from the proceeds should expect good news soon, though final sums to be paid cannot yet be calculated.
We have been thrilled by the public responses, too, such as this from Facebook:
The Fête was brilliant and as I walked across the green at 7:30 last night I was amazed that there was not a scrap of litter and you would hardly have known the wonderful event had taken place. Well done to all involved!
Thank you also to everyone who bought raffle tickets. The lucky winners have all been contacted and should by now have their prizes or know where to collect them. But of course the real winners in this are the charitable organisations we support.
